MENTAL RETARDATION
Mental
Retardation (MR) Services:
MR Supports Coordinators provide resource and referral services, advocacy,
service monitoring to individual, aged 3 and up, who meet eligibility criteria
for MR services. Children and
adults meet eligibility criteria if they have received an IQ of 70 or below (via
standardized tests) prior to age 22; this IQ level must be determined to be a
result of Mental Retardation and must be noted as such on the evaluation.
All prospective cases must have an intake, after which the assigned
supports coordinator will develop a Life Management Plan, which is renewed
yearly, and then begin the process of referrals to appropriate services.
Family
Driven Support Services:
Funding available through Family Driven Support Services (FDSS) exists to
provide support and assistance to individuals with mental retardation who live
at home with their families or independently in the community.
These funds are intended to supplement expenses incurred but not to
supplant typical costs incurred by an individual or family.
Services eligible under FDSS include but are not limited to: respite
care, homemaker services, in-home therapy, family education and training,
recreation/leisure activities, and adaptive equipment.
