FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
The
Caring Chain is a
support group for the family members and friends of mentally ill individuals. The meetings provide a unique opportunity for individuals to
come together to share common concerns and frustrations, exchange information
and gain a greater understanding of mental illness. Also available is a lending library that includes books,
articles, audio and videotapes dealing with various aspects of mental illness.
Guest speakers or special events are scheduled periodically.
Group
meetings are facilitated by a mental health professional, and are held at PMHC,
twice a month, on Monday evenings. Newcomers
are always welcome and meetings are free of charge.
CORE
Group: This is a consumer facilitated self help group. The Core group keeps
current on mental health trends and initiatives, and educates other consumers
about these issues. Consumers may also access Core group members with any
concerns or suggestions to improve any Penndel Mental Health Center service.
Consultation/ Education and Training:
Education and training is an important aspect of a family member’s learning to
deal/cope with serious mental illness. Therefore,
there are funds available to assist family members in attending community
workshops and seminars relating to mental illness.
