Intake
& Referral Services:
All applicants for service must be seen for intake assessment and financial
liability determination. Clients
under 18 years of age must be accompanied by at least one parent or legal
guardian unless exception is warranted for clinical reasons.
The
intake assessment and liability determination are conducted by a Mental Health
Professional (clinician) and a fiscal clerk, respectively.
During the intake, the client’s needs are assessed, the clinician
determines the client’s eligibility for public funded services, and a formal
intake packet is completed. At this
time, the client also has the opportunity to ask questions and raise any
concerns about entering treatment.
During
the financial liability determination, the client (or the client’s legal
guardian, if applicable) will present all financial information needed to
determine a reasonable monthly fee or other source of payment.
This information is explained to the applicant for service when
scheduling the intake appointment. At
this time, the client also presents his/her referral and/or authorization (if
participating in an HMO) or his/her insurance cards and/or forms.
The
intake staff is available to act as an information and referral source to
members of the community regarding mental health services.
PMHC staff is also available to agencies and schools in the community to
provide consultation and education on mental health issues.
Acute Stabilization
Services: An
Acute Stabilization Counselor provides brief, time-limited therapy and
counseling to identified, at-risk clients.
In addition, the Acute Stabilization Counselor works with existing
clinical and casemanagement staff to promote stabilization.
