Smoking Awareness Program

The Smoking Awareness Program  is centered on developing a shared vision of wellness and recovery.  It is understood that not everyone is at the same stage of change, but we all can use the same amount of support.  This program offers individual and group sessions, otherwise known as open and closed groups. Each group will be under the direction of a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS) and begin with a complete smoking awareness evaluation to assess each participant’s motivation, smoking behavior and want to eventually quit smoking. Initial meetings will help participants understand the effects of smoking and to become more aware of one’s habits and emotional and thought processes that promote smoking. Further sessions focus on developing stages of change and learning the skills necessary to stop smoking while developing positive strategies to remain smoke-free. Nicotine replacement treatment (NRTs) and educational resources are explained and encouraged during sessions.

Individuals registered for services with Penndel Mental Health Center are eligible to participate in this Program.
