Acute Partial Hospital Program (APHP)

APHP offers short-term intensive treatment to individuals who experience a mental health crisis, but do not require inpatient hospitalization. We use an individualized, recovery-oriented, strengths based approach that focuses on symptom recognition, coping skills training and relapse prevention.  APHP staff works with each individual in group and individual sessions to assist each person in achieving their goals of stabilization and recovery. Individual needs of each person are assessed in the beginning of treatment which helps staff connect program participants with other services in the community immediately following admission. APHP services are offered 5 days per week, 6 hours per day with small group size and low client to staff ratio. Each day usually consists of a combination of individual and group sessions on topics such as: Self-Esteem; Relapse Prevention; Addictions and Recovery; Health and Medications; Cognitive Behavior Therapy; Stress Management; and Self- care. Medication management appointments and Peer Support services are incorporated in each individual’s schedule as needed.

APHP serves Bucks County residents 18 and older who are diagnosed with Mental Illness or a combination of Mental Illness/Substance Abuse.  The program accepts Medical Assistance and some other private insurances; insurance eligibility is determined on a case by case basis.

An individual may be referred to APHP by another treatment professional (psychiatrist, therapist or case manager).  Self referrals are also accepted for individuals currently receiving other mental health services at Penndel Mental Health Center

Referrals to APHP may be faxed and/or called in. This program offers same or next day admission.  .  Individuals who are not current PMHC consumers will be required to go through the Intake process before admission to APHP.
